The Yard Market and Causeway Marine Demonstrate How Strategic Partnerships Create Value for Businesses and Customers
Coastal Collaboration: Southern Ocean Chamber Members Showcase the Power of Partnership

When Mercer Management and the team at Causeway Marine began exploring partnership opportunities, they quickly recognized a shared audience and common vision. With the launch of The Yard Market at The Boatyard, the collaboration was a natural fit. Created to showcase local makers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses, The Yard Market provides an ideal setting for Causeway Marine to connect with boating enthusiasts and waterfront guests.
Mercer Management embraced the opportunity, recognizing the popularity of Causeway Marine's Pop-Up Boat shows. In fact, Causeway Marine flags were displayed before the boats even arrived, building anticipation among visitors and reflecting the community-focused spirit behind the event. According to Kerry Ann Nolan, Marketing Director for Causeway Marine, the collaboration represents the type of partnership that strengthens not only the participating businesses but also the community as a whole. Known for representing premium brands including Cobalt Boats and EdgeWater Boats, Causeway Marine has built its reputation on a customer-first philosophy.
"We are dedicated to no-pressure boat sales, even at our largest boat shows, our motto is, 'Feel free to go aboard and make yourself at home,'" added Nolan. One innovative feature of the boat show is the use of QR codes displayed alongside each vessel. Visitors can access detailed boat specifications directly from their phones, allowing them to browse at their own pace without sales pressure. This technology enhances the customer experience while supporting Causeway Marine's approachable sales philosophy. The event is family and dog friendly. Nolan encourages boaters to bring their canine companions, providing treats and branded bandanas for visiting "boat dogs," adding a fun and welcoming element to the experience.
Founded in 1984 by brothers Paul and Ted Terzian, Causeway Marine has deep roots in Southern Ocean County. After graduating from Villanova University with business degrees, the brothers launched the Manahawkin-based company as a service-only operation. More than four decades later, they remain actively involved in the daily management of the business, ensuring customers continue to receive the personalized attention and exceptional service. Today, Causeway Marine's flagship showroom at 960 E. Bay Avenue in Manahawkin serves boaters throughout the region and is located just minutes from Long Beach Island and the Beach Haven West boating communities. The company also operates a second showroom at All Seasons Marina in Marmora, serving Ocean City and neighboring shore communities, while attracting customers from across New Jersey and beyond.
That welcoming approach is on full display at The Yard Market Boat Show, where the focus extends beyond boat sales to include boating education and community engagement. Visitors can learn about New Jersey Boat Safety Certificate classes hosted by Causeway Marine, as well as access U.S. Coast Guard resources designed to help boaters remain informed and safe on the water. Adding to the educational experience, guests are invited to participate in complimentary mini docking demonstrations aboard a new Cobalt boat. These hands-on sessions provide practical skills, build confidence at the helm, and offer an opportunity to experience the quality and performance of a premium vessel in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Meghan Jacobs of Mercer Management is growing The Yard Market by offering an inviting atmosphere, excellent visibility for vendors, and convenient parking for visitors. Guests can arrive by boat, bike, car, or on foot, creating a unique "Dock & Shop" experience along the bay. The family-friendly marina is located at The Boatyard, 2200 E. Bay Avenue in Manahawkin,
The market's mission is to cultivate a thoughtfully curated gathering of artisans, makers, and small-batch producers that celebrates the coastal lifestyle, honors local culture, and promotes conscious consumption. Vendors participate throughout a full schedule of seasonal weekends and special events from spring through fall, operating from covered cedar farm tables, outdoor tent spaces, and charming seasonal shed options.
Drawing thousands of visitors on peak weekends, The Yard Market creates valuable exposure and meaningful opportunities for participating businesses. Beyond the market, The Boatyard features an on-site marina, houseboats with stunning bay views, a beer garden, and the popular Prop Bar, making it a destination for both locals and visitors throughout the season.
This summer, The Yard Market hosts:
- Twilight Market Fridays: 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday Day Market: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Sunday Day Market: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
For the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, partnerships like this underscore the value of collaboration. It is a celebration of local business, waterfront recreation, boating education, and community engagement. It demonstrates how businesses can align their strengths, expand their reach, and create meaningful experiences that benefit customers and fellow entrepreneurs.
Most importantly, this collaboration serves as a model for the power of Southern Ocean County connections. When local businesses support one another, they create opportunities that strengthen the regional economy, enrich the destination experience, and reinforce the sense of community that makes Southern Ocean County such a special place to live, work, and play.
