Certified student volunteers will provide confidential, no‑cost tax return preparation on campus

As the 2026 tax season approaches, Ocean County College is once again preparing to support the community through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Beginning February 5, trained accounting students certified by the IRS will offer free tax preparation services to eligible individuals, including seniors and individuals and married couples with incomes less than $69,000 per year Details on specific qualifications are available on the website.

The IRS has partnered with organizations nationwide to offer VITA services for more than 50 years, resulting in millions of federal and state returns prepared annually. OCC President Pamela Monaco learned about the program last year and encouraged the college’s accounting faculty to bring it to campus, where it ran successfully during the 2025 tax season.

The VITA site at Ocean County College will operate from February 5 through April 15 in the Library Building (#3), Room 1, on the main campus. Appointments will be available on Mondays, with additional scheduling details to be announced. Schedule an appointment online here
