Now Open: Federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program
Applications are now being accepted and must be submitted by Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
The Southern Ocean County Chamber continues their partnership with NJ Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness by announcing that the The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has opened the application period for the FFY2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), a competitive federal grant designed to help nonprofit organizations strengthen their physical security. Applications are now being accepted and must be submitted by Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
What Nonprofits Need to Apply
A complete application must include the following three documents:
1. Investment Justification (IJ)
Organizations must include their Mission Statement in the “Organization Type” section on page two of the IJ.
2. Vulnerability Risk Assessment (VRA)
VRAs must be:
No more than two years old, or updated to reflect recent security improvements
Completed by law enforcement or a qualified private security firm
New requirements for FFY2025 include:
Photographs of the facility
Images of specific areas where security upgrades are requested
Examples: doors needing lock upgrades, windows requiring blast film, locations for CCTV installation
Applications missing required photographs may be disqualified.
3. IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter
Required only for organizations that fall under this designation.
Guidance for Applicants
The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) recommends that applicants:
Review the FFY2025 NSGP Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) in full before applying
Double‑check all documents for accuracy and completeness
Obtain a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) through the System for Award Management (SAM.gov)
A UEI is required at the time of application

Funding Availability
All awards are dependent on the availability of federal funding. Organizations are encouraged to begin preparing their materials early to ensure they meet all requirements and deadlines.
