LBI Region Podcast
🎙️ On the latest LBI Region Report Podcast, we welcomed Lighthouse Center for Natural Resource Education. The Lighthouse Center, located on 194 acres in Waretown along Barnegat Bay, is an environmental education and research facility operated by the Natural Resource Education Foundation. The center features diverse coastal habitats, hiking trails, birdwatching opportunities with over 240 bird species, educational programs, and a popular Nature Discovery Summer Camp for children ages 5–12. Originally established in 1927 as a camp for the blind, the site preserves many of its historic features while remaining accessible and welcoming to visitors. In addition to education and recreation, the Lighthouse Center is actively involved in conservation efforts, including shoreline restoration projects and habitat protection, and is open to the public for hiking, picnicking, and nature exploration.
